📰 What’s going on
Amazon has rolled out Alexa+ to all US users, offering its next-generation AI assistant for $19.99/month or included at no extra cost for Prime members, making it the company’s most aggressive push yet into conversational AI. The upgraded assistant works across Echo devices, a new Alexa.com web interface, and the mobile app, with capabilities including AI-powered shopping, restaurant reservations, family calendar coordination, and complex topic summaries
Anthropic and OpenAI both dropped flagship AI models on the same day. Claude Opus 4.6 features a 1M token context window and introduces “agent teams” in Claude Code: multiple AI agents splitting up tasks and working in parallel. Meanwhile, OpenAI’s GPT-5.3-Codex is 25% faster, scores SOTA on SWE-Bench Pro, and can use a computer like a human (64.7% on OSWorld). GPT-5.3 helped build itself by debugging its own training runs
Anthropic has added some new integrations to Claude. Cowork now supports Google Drive integrations which means you can use it to work directly on Google apps like Gmail, Calendar and Docs. Plus, you can now connect your Slack channels to Claude to draft messages, send messages and create canvases that can be shared in specific channels
Anthropic released Claude for Excel. Ask why a number changed, where an error comes from, or how a model flows across tabs. Debug formulas, run scenario analysis, extend financial models
OpenAI launched Frontier, an end-to-end platform for enterprises to build and manage AI agents
OpenAI launched Prism, a collaborative workspace for scientists. Prism unifies scientific writing in one browser-based environment. GPT-5.2 works inside the document with full awareness of equations, citations, and structure
Perplexity launched Model Council, a mode that runs 3 AI models in parallel for improved accuracy
The iPhone 20, expected in September 2027, is planned to include an all-glass design without physical buttons, hidden cameras, and a 2nm chip
Apple launched Xcode 26.3 with full Claude Agent SDK integration for autonomous coding. Includes visual verification: Claude can capture Xcode Previews, see what the interface looks like, identify issues, and fix them autonomously. Millions of iOS developers now have an AI copilot built directly into their IDE
Meta began testing a standalone app for Vibes, its AI-generated short-form video feed, positioning it as a more direct competitor to OpenAI's Sora app
Meta officially tied employee performance reviews to AI usage. Performance reviews and bonuses are now closely tied to how effectively employees use AI. An internal tracker called Checkpoint pulls data from tools and systems. For engineers, it measures AI-generated code, error rates, and 200+ other metrics. Top performers get up to 300% bonus multipliers
Reddit said AI-powered search could be its next major revenue driver. Weekly active users of Reddit Answers grew from 1M to 15M over 2025. YouTube has also overtaken Reddit as the leading source for citations in LLM search results
Windsurf launched Arena Mode for coding model A/B testing. Users can rate coding model outputs and earn free tokens. Claude is wiping the floor
📚 Good reads
How to build AI product sense, by Tal Raviv and Aman Khan (via Lenny). The authors spent 100+ hours building a hands-on tutorial using Cursor to help non-technical folks develop genuine intuition about AI products. They explain the value of moving away from consumer-grade UIs and into AI coding agents to truly understand what’s feasible. 100% worth a read
Context rot: why AI gets worse the longer you chat. Teresa Torres explains how, as conversations with AI grow longer, context quality degrades. She shares practical ways to get around that challenge
Your secret weapon isn’t AI. David Pereira argues that the real edge for PMs isn’t AI skills, but ruthless control of their attention. Deeply understanding customer problems and shipping value is still what needs most of your attention. Plan your week, block focused time, cap AI-learning time, and make sure you decide where your attention goes. Don’t let Slack, email, or LinkedIn decide for you.
